ComVec 2018 will feature international special guest speaker Ian Wright. When Tesla began, Ian was the Engineer at its heart. In 2005 he founded Wrightspeed, building turbine powered electric drivetrains for the commercial vehicle industry.
Follow Ian’s uncompromising journey to find alternative means to power vehicles. Where better to start than the least environmentally friendly sector: heavy vehicles.
Ian will share his experiences and how they led to Wrightspeed; he’ll talk in detail about his current projects including the looking at some its applications and the challenges to make it work.
We’ll also take a look at where things might go from here, including casting a speculative bird’s eye view on the current development landscape.
Speaking to US Network CNBC Ian expressed his surprise following Tesla’s announcement of their new long-haul prime movers saying trucking is a tougher market for electric than shorter-range, light- and medium-duty trucking.
“I was a little surprised they were targeting long-haul trucks, because that is the worst thing you can do with a battery electric [vehicle],” he said.
“It’s going to make it very heavy and expensive,” he said, in a tough business where low cost is king. Cost “is where the rubber meets the road.”
He’s a revolutionary whose innovations are taking hold all over the world and you can meet him at ComVec 2018.
